Exploring Biology Beyond the Classroom!

Our A Level (Grade 12) Biology students recently visited Microleer Biopolymers for an insightful field trip that brought molecular biology and microbiology concepts to life.
Students explored techniques such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), used to amplify DNA for applications including disease diagnosis, genetic testing, and forensic investigations. They also learned about gel electrophoresis, a method used to separate DNA fragments and analyse genetic patterns.
The visit also introduced students to microbiological techniques, including sterile laboratory practices and the use of agar plates to culture microorganisms.
This hands-on experience helped students connect classroom learning with real-world applications in biotechnology, medicine, and scientific research.
