University Visits to Candor International School

On 25th November 2014, Ms. Disha, International  Outreach Officer from University of Hong Kong visited Candor. She discussed with the students various opportunities available at University of Hong Kong.

HKU has consistently been ranked as one of the best universities in Asia. The QS World University rankings places it as 28th in the world. The University has over 200 exchange partners around the world. Undergraduate students across faculties can choose to study for a semester or an entire year in one of the University’s partner institutions worldwide, which includes Cambridge, Oxford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Univ. of British Columbia and Toronto. There are currently over 8,000 students from over 80 different countries.  It is also ranked for its subjects – 36th in the world for its HKU MBA programme (no. 1 in Asia) by the Economist.  27th in the world for Social Sciences ( no. 1 in Asia) by the Times Higher Education. 36th in the World for Arts and Humanities ( no. 1 in Asia) by the Times Higher Education. Some 1500 scholarships and prizes, amounting to HK$18 million, are available for outstanding undergraduate students.

On 20th November 2014, few students of grade 11 and 12, along with the Vice Principal and the College Counselor, visited an orientation at Taj Vivanta presented by Ms. Karuna Ausman, International Marketing and Recruitment Specialist from University of Waterloo.

University of Waterloo is home to world-changing research and inspired teaching. At the hub of a growing network of global partnerships, Waterloo shapes the future by building bridges with industry and between disciplines, institutions and communities.

Also it is the first school in Canada to adopt the co-op education model in 1957 when the university opened. More than 18,300 students are enrolled in 140 accredited co-op  programs. $193 million: Total earnings by students on co-op, 2012/13. World-wide network of more than 5,200 regularly hiring employers. 96 per cent co-op employment rate. Two years after graduating, 77 per cent of co-op students earn more than $50,000. (Ontario average is 40 per cent.)

On 12th November, Mrs Maria, International Admission Officer from University of Alberta, Canada, visited Candor to speak to students of grade 11 and 12 about various educational opportunities available at University of Alberta.

Alberta is a Public State University. It is one of the top 5 colleges in Canada and one of the Top 100 in the world. The University offers 200 UG programs with 500 Million in scholarships. Indian students can apply for specific merit scholarships.

The University offers more than 200 Undergraduate programs. It boasts of 6507 International students from 160 countries and 250,000 Alumni worldwide.

On 5th November, Mr Bakhtiyar Baidaralin, International Admission Officer from MCPHS University visited Candor to speak to grade 11 and 12 students and introduced them to various opportunities in the health care industry. The most popular courses  at MCPHS University are Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Biomedical and Health Psychology.

With nearly 700 international students from 43 countries around the world, they are fully committed in supporting their international student community. MCPHS University’s mission is to prepare students for successful careers in health care through excellence in teaching, research, professional service, and community engagement.

On 29th October, Mr Rohtash, Relationship Manager from DSK SUPINFOCOM, visited Candor to speak to grade 11 and 12 students about the various opportunities available in the Design Industry.

DSK Supinfocom is India’s first international campus offering professional courses in the flourishing fields of Animation, Game Design & Industrial Design. DSK Supinfocom is a result of a joint venture between the DSK Group and Globally recognized French Institute, SUPINFOCOM.

The campus is complete with international quality amenities. Its spread over 20 acres of land based in Fursungi, off NH 9, in Pune. Their academics are fully controlled by the French institute to match the international standards of education. Their trainers are recruited on a full time basis from Europe.

On 15th October, Mr Rakesh, South Asia representative, and Mr Jan Zaeske, Business Development Manager of Cologne Business School, visited Candor to speak to Grade 11 and 12 students about their application process and the many options available at Cologne Business School.

In CBS, degree courses are internationally recognised and offer an essential qualification for job applicants on the worldwide market. They are all certified by ECT S (the European Credit and Accumulation Transfer System). Bachelor of Arts graduates are eligible to apply for a master’s degree programme.

Cologne Business School offers a wide variety of educational full-time and part-time programmes. It includes Bachelor,Master, MBA and EMBA degrees. Most of their courses are completely taught in English. Internationality and the combination of theory and practice have always been the hallmarks of CBS. That is why they model their curricula on the requirements of global managers. In addition to providing practical training, they promote professional and social skills along with societal and cultural sensitivity. Furthermore they offer foreign language courses, a mandatory internship and individual specialisation courses. On 26th September Prof. Alesa from USA, EX dean of S.P Jain School of Global management visited Candor International School.  She presented to Grade 11 and 12 students the various opportunities students would get at S.P Jain.

S P Jain’s 4-year BBA course focuses on offering a complete education to students, looking beyond typical classroom learning to building character, competency, team spirit, and decision-making and leadership skills.

Students study and live in three dynamic cities – ‘One degree – three cities’ sums the learning experience at S P Jain. This unique tri-city model is the most striking feature of the BBA course as it aids students in gaining the first-hand international exposure they need to embark on a career in global business. BBA students at S P Jain spend their first year in Singapore, followed by Year 2 in Dubai. The final 2 years of the program take place in the harbor city of Sydney.

On 25th September Director of International Admissions, Reon Sines-Sheaff visited Candor International School. She provided an overview of the College of Wooster, and information on new scholarships, academic offerings, to grade 11 and 12 students.

Wooster ranks 29th overall among liberal arts colleges whose graduates go on to earn a Ph.D., sixth in chemistry, ninth in physical sciences, 15th in political science and public administration, and 18th in history. Students can begin working with faculty on research in their first year at Wooster. Then in senior year, each Wooster student works one-on-one with a faculty mentor to conceive, plan and complete a significant piece of original research, scholarship, or creative expression.

On 25th September group of three educational officers Shirley Be, Sarah Lawrence College, Sarah Leavell, Denison University, Amy Fischer, Ringling College of Art and Design visited Candor International School to educate students of Grade 11 and 12 about the different opportunities that they offer as smaller, more intimate colleges.

Sarah Lawrence College is a Liberal Arts and Science College it has been an exemplar of progressive education since its founding in 1926.  It encompasses the study of humanities, languages, sciences, social sciences, and the arts. This curriculum imparts deep general knowledge and builds intellectual capabilities. They emphasize intensive classroom discussion and writing.

Denison University is a four year, private co-educational liberal arts college, founded in 1831. Denison has 226 faculty members, 100% of whom hold doctorates in their field.

Ringling College of Art and Design- is a private, not for profit, fully accredited college offering the Bachelor’s degree programs in the following disciplines: Advertising Design, Business of art and Design, Computer Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Fine Arts, Game Art & Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, Motion Design, and Photography and Digital Imaging. Located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the picturesque 35 – acre campus now includes 90 buildings, and attracts close to 1300 students from 44 states and 53 foreign countries. It is recognized as being among the best and most innovative visual arts colleges in the United States as well as a leader in the use of technology in the arts.

On 11th September 2014, Ms. Adina Timofei, International officer (Student Recruitment and Admissions University of York visited Candor International School. She met the students of grade11 and 12 and presented to them the different educational opportunities available at University of York, England.

Popular Courses- The most Popular university’s academic subjects are ranked among the best in UK (English Literature – 1st in the UK for research, Biology – 2nd in the UK, Chemistry – 5th in the UK, Computer Science, Politics, Psychology, Law, Theatre, Film and Television are all ranked among the top 10 in the country).

On 4th September 2014, Mr Aditya Soma, Director MUN Café visited Candor International School. Students from grade 9-12 attended the presentation. He enlightened the students about the MUN Conference in University of California, Los Angeles.

MUN Cafe is the authorized partner for BruinMUN in India. The MUN X USA program is a comprehensive program with a mix of educational, cultural and fun elements. Some of the highlights of the program are:

1.  Comprehensive pre-program training at the school campus including sessions by:
•  A senior MUN’er from University of California
•  A seasoned trainer from India

2.  MUN conference on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles

On 3rd September 2014, Ms. Swati Mishra, the International Marketing Advisor for Kings College London visited Candor International School. She met grade 11 and 12 students and presented to them the possible educational options they could take up at Kings College for their undergraduate studies.

Ms. Vidhi Godiawala Associate Director, International Recruitment IE India and South Asia office visited Candor International School on 3rd September 2014. She exposed grade 11 and 12 students with the possible opportunities for their undergraduate studies and also the scholarships available to them. A video about the university and the achievements of the students of IE were shown to the students.
