In connection to our Unit of Inquiry about caring for our world, the K2 class took an exciting field trip to the Martin Farm – a small homey farm off of Sarjapur road. At the farm we were able to see what caring for animals really means and find out about the different kids of homes, food, and care each animal needs. We got to feed donkeys, goats, and sheep. We also got to pet a turtle and turkey that was freely wandering about.
Towards the back of the farm we discovered a pig and her piglets, some of which the children called ‘leopard piglets’ as they were spotted. We ended our excursion with some free play in the playground and a yummy picnic. Lucky for us, the weather was amazingly pleasant, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget!
