Earth Day Celebration 2013

India’s First Green School                                                                                     IB World School

Candor International School celebrated Earth Day with a number of activities. Two grade 7 students sang Louise Armstrong’s, ‘What a wonderful world’ to a mime about the wonderful world that is now being destroyed. Two hundred saplings were then planted around the campus by students and teachers. A poster and photo exhibition by both PYP and MS students on ‘The Face of Climate Change’ displayed their creativity and meaningful reflection through the captions. The strong message for the need to wake up and do something to save the earth was clear. Students of K2, grades 1 and 2 projected their impressions of the Earth through their art work. A slogan writing activity further demonstrated student’s thoughts about climate change. Painting on old T-shirts and Diya/pot painting happened simultaneously with the K1 T-shirt finger-painting . The day ended with students reading out poems on Earth Day and self- composed poems. This was followed by two solo performances of an earth song and a very moving self- composed song by a 10th grader and set to music by the music teachers.

Every student received a certificate of participation and it is hoped that a seed has been sown. Candor, our green school, it begins with US!
