University Visits at Candor

Many university admissions representatives visit our campus. It is extremely important for students in Grade 12 to sign up and meet with the admissions representatives who will be reading their college applications. Grade 11 students are also encouraged to meet with representatives and learn more about the application process. Most visits will take place in September, October and November.

Standardized Tests

Grade 12 students applying to US schools should complete all testing at the very latest by the December test dates. For information concerning important test information and dates, please visit the SAT website.

The SAT measures critical reading (800 points), math (800) and writing (800) skills.

Important University Application Dates for Grade 12

Important University Application Dates for Grade 12

University Applications to the UK for Grade 12 Students:
All applications to UK universities are made online through UCAS (www.ucas.com). The UCAS deadline for applying to Oxford, Cambridge, and medicine, dentistry, and veterinary courses is October 15.For all other courses, the UCAS deadline is January 15. However, for Candor students the university counsellor advises sending applications as soon as possible and no later than before the winter vacation in December. Students interested in applying to the UK should have their applications completed including the personal statement by December 1. Students who have completed their applications before this date will have their applications sent as soon as the reference is completed by the college counsellor.

University Applications to the US for Grade 12 Students:
Early Decision and Early Action deadlines in the US are November 1 and 15. Students are  responsible for knowing the deadlines of their selected schools and for providing the appropriate documentation forms to the college counsellor and teachers writing recommendations at least three weeks before the deadline.

Regular Decision deadlines for many schools in the U.S. are January 1 or 15. Students must provide all documents (online or in paper form) to the college counsellor and to teachers writing recommendations before December 1. In order to obtain an effective letter of recommendation, students must give their resume to teachers for writing.

College Applications to Canada for Grade 12 Students
Canadian universities have later deadlines than the UK or the US. Students register online before January 15 to some universities and in February and March to others. However, applying earlier

than the deadlines is encouraged. Students must provide a list of the schools to which they are applying to the college counsellor and include the correct address and deadlines for the documentation to be sent, which usually includes the transcript, a school profile, and the IB predicted grades.
